The following is an excerpt from a samvaad (dialogue) session with Acharya Prashant.

अंगना तो परबत भयो, देहरी भई विदेस।

जा बाबुल घर आपने, मैं चली पिया के देस।।

अमीर खुसरो

(Translation)

Angana to parbat bhayo, dehri bhai vides

Jaa babul ghar aapne, main chali piya ke des

~ Amir Khusro

Acharya Prashant: When one sees the Real, the Truth, the attachment to one’s conditioned past disappears. In the bright light of the Truth, the falsenesses and ignorance of the past lose their charm.

Khusro uses angana, dehri — parts of the house — to denote the structures that previously confined you. He says that they no longer attract. You once thought of this confinement as your own house, but now you realize that you actually belong elsewhere.

Similarly, Khusro uses babul — the biological father- to denote worldly relationships. He says that parents of the body, and relationships of the mind, are false. The real belonging is with the Supreme Beloved, whom he has found, and all must find.

The pointer is towards finding the Self, which necessarily means that the unreal and the false lose their sheen. The one who finds the Real precious Self is unable to hold on to all that now appears worthless.
