The following is an excerpt from a samvaad (dialogue) session with Acharya Prashant.

Question (Q): Sir, man lives in society. How can we cut-off from society?

Acharya Prashant (AP): Who is that man? Are you afraid? Are you afraid of being cut-off from the society?

Listener 1 (L1): No, Sir.

AP: What you are calling as being cut-off from the society is an event. This event is important to you only if you are afraid of it, otherwise so much is happening. Do you talk about it? Being cut-off from the society, whatsoever it meant, is an event and that event is now being picked up by you. Why? Are you afraid? If not, then why are you talking about it?

Let that happen.

Society is not one thing. You create your own society. What do you think these hundred or thousand people that you know in your life, they are your society? There are millions of societies parallelly running.

You think, just as we said a little while ago, that there is this finite space (pointing towards the room) and the mind thinks that this room is all there is.

Similarly you think that this limited society, all your uncles and aunts, friends and relatives is society. There are a thousand new societies waiting for you, a thousand new worlds waiting for you. Why do you think that this is society?

Just because of fear, just because this society has exploited you. This society threatens you that don’t go away, remain here.
